About Mold
Mold is a hidden culprit that can have a adverse effect on health. Mold is a non-scientific term for many types of fungi - unwanted, unappealing patches of black, brown, yellow, pink, green, smelly, fuzzy growths. Countless species of mold are found both indoors and outdoors. Mold infestations also emit a distinct repugnant smell.
Fungi reproduce by means of spores which are spread through the air but land and survive on surfaces. Many spores can remain dormant for long periods under dry conditions, but typically develop into fungi in the presence of moisture. High humidity inside a dwelling is enough to lead to a mold infestation. Common conditions that can lead to a mold infestation are leaking pipes, dehumidifiers and air conditioners, window condensation, damp bathrooms, and air filters. Even potted plants can proliferate mold in your home.
In order to do a mold remediation, according to NYS state law, a licensed inspector must first perform an investigation with samples analyzed at a certified lab. This lab report will identify and quantify the fungal spores trapped on the sample. In order to give you a greater understanding of irritants that may be affecting you and your family's health, our report will also demonstrate an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) analyses which will show pollen, insect fragments, fibrous particulate matter, and other information.​
